About

Solutions Chatswood

Established in the mid 1990’s, Solutions Chatswood was created to bring together a small group of like-minded practitioners who shared a vision to offer tailored counselling solutions within a professional, trusted and empathic environment on Sydney’s North Shore.

Our centre consists of highly qualified counsellors, psychologists and psychotherapists with a wealth of experience dealing with a diverse range of clients and areas of concern. Each with unique fields of expertise, our practitioners work with individuals, couples and families facing a variety of struggles including anxiety, phobias, depression, relationship problems, conflict resolution and general life or career challenges.

Our purpose is to provide a caring and non-judgemental environment in which our clients can be understood and offer achievable solutions to the issues they are facing. By putting our clients at ease, helping them understand the root causes of their concerns and tailoring therapies to each individual’s needs, we provide the opportunity for clients to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

Our centre is positioned upstairs in a neighbourhood shopping strip and provides a calm and quiet environment in which to meet. Our rooms are informal, light filled and encourage clients to relax and really connect with their practitioner. We have a secure and comfortable reception with clients being greeted directly by their practitioner upon arrival at a session.

Finding the Right Practitioner for You

Having made the commitment to engage professional counselling assistance, it is important to ensure your chosen practitioner is the right fit for you. This will be dependent on a number of factors including the following:

Your Areas of Concern

You may be an individual battling a psychological disorder, part of a couple struggling in your relationship, be recently separated and facing a custody battle, have recently lost a loved one or simply be experiencing general feelings of discontent. When assessing the skills and experience of your potential practitioner, ensure they have expertise relating to your specific circumstances and areas of concern. If you feel unsure, phone or email the practitioner to ask questions and provide a brief description of yourself to ensure they have experience relevant to you.

Finding the Right “Fit”

You may struggle with motivation and need some direction and strategies for change or you may be extremely fragile and need to take small, gentle steps towards recovery. Again, it’s a good idea to read a little about the counsellor you are considering, email them or phone for a chat to ensure you feel comfortable and they are the right fit for your needs. At Solutions Chatswood, we believe a deep and genuine connection between a client and their practitioner is paramount to facilitating successful outcomes. You can learn more about our practitioners on the Our Team page by reading their bios which describe their style and areas of expertise. Contact details are on each practitioners profile so you can directly book with them.

Whether to Involve Your Doctor

To access Medicare rebates for counselling services, a referral is required from a GP for a diagnosable mental health condition such as depression or anxiety. Not all practitioners can offer a rebate and this can cause confusion for members of the public who often expect all counselling services to be covered by Medicare. There is a large body of professionally trained and accredited counsellors and psychotherapists who cannot offer Medicare rebates. (ARCAP) This distinction does not necessarily reflect on competency or level of service. Essentially, you can book an appointment with any one of our practitioners without the need for a referral but if you wish to access Medicare rebates, you will need to see your GP first and book with a practitioner who is an endorsed Medicare provider. You can learn more about Medicare rebates on our ‘Fees’ page.
